I think I just became an unbaptized bible study student apostate
by AddaGirl ini had some major questions regarding 607 bce which directly affect the doctrine of 1914. my teacher, admitting being weak on history, could not answer my questions.
i started researching and found that the appropriate dates for the "seventy years" were appearing to be 609 bce to 539 bce, the ruling period of babylon.
this meant that everything i was being taught based on 1914 was in effect, a lie.

I know in my personal case I was raised into the religion. I made a blog myspace though and this girl who went out of her way to contact me and told me she "loved to debate", then read the blog and called me an apostate. She also said I "stumble easy". Haha I wrote her back and informed her by definition you have to believe in a cause to be an apostate and I never believed in the cause.

Ships go back over and read what I said. Jesse Helms helped him win the nomination he was basically a lame duck before Jesse Helms touted him as the next Wonder Bread. He gets the republican nod and takes North Carolina along with most of the racist southern votesthat loved Jesse Helms and took his word for gold. After Jesse Helms turned on Reagan though, Reagan felt the need to return the favor and rallied for him to win a very very close Senate race in N.C. Now why would a president feel the need to support a senator who was completely against him and trashed him all over the media? It seems your the one with a revisionist history. Why was there none of this Reagan touting in the 90's? The recession got blamed on Bush I in the late 80's early 90's yet during Clinton's years the great economic boom got blamed on Reagan. How exactly does that work?

Ha I kind of like Burntheships replies, they're humorous. Anyways I agree Dawg, republicans can never clearly point to tangible things Reagan did that was good. Oh I forgot "Star Wars" was so worth our time. So was invading Panama. Must I keep bringing up that Reagan only won the presidency because of Jesse Helms? What did Jesse Helms play on to get Southern states to go for Reagan? Racism. Who stood behind Helms? Reagan. It wasn't until Helms quite on Reagan because of failed policies that Reagan distanced himself. Even after that Reagan still returned the favor to Helms in a awkward meeting in North Carolina. Reagan would have jumped at a chance to invade Iraq if he would have had it. Lets not forget the Reagan administration was the one who sold Iraq it's so called WMD's.

NWT based off a Catholic chosen canon, WTBS ever comment on?
by feenx inafter reading elaine pagels book the gnostic gospels, ive wondered if theres ever been a statement made by the wtbs regarding the origins of the nwt, besides the painstaking efforts made to keep the translation accurate despite how the rest of the world translated the bible.
as jws we were taught to follow the example set forth for and by the first century christians, however no doubt many of those first century christians were or became catholic as at the time that was the first legitimate, or universal, christian church established in spite of opposition and persecution from the romans.
in essence the great harlot herself defined many things that modern day jws still see as fact.

I was talking to my brother about this, how the WBTS never wants to give any recognition to any church outside of their own. I specifically brought up how without the Catholic church the bible could very well have a important book like 1 Timothy missing for something like the gospel of Thomas. He agreed but said that God used individuals in those days and now he is using the org. You just can't get around it with these people.

Again you know your a crap president when the racist S.O.B. who got you into office in the first place bails on you because you don't care about the common American people. Unfortunately Dave it is you who are delusional. It's like there was this Reagan fad for a couple of years all because of how horrible Bush II was. All these republicans had to resort to the only memory they had of a republican who wasn't Nixon or Bush in office which was Reagan, so to keep the republican's afloat they inflated Reagan's worth. They would have touted Bush I if ol' sonny boy wasn't so shitty. Of course at this point Reagan was dying/Alzheimer's/dead so no one in the media had the balls to call out these pandering jerks, so all of the right saw the opportunity and ran with it. When he died I said, "Good riddance to bad rubbish". I am just glad I am young enough to see him for what he was a old hollywood hack.
